Questions
Do I actually need an ITAC permit?
If you import used or second-hand goods, waste or scrap, yes. A range of controlled new goods need one too. Not sure? WhatsApp us what you plan to import and we will tell you straight, before you pay anything.
Is this not the same as my importer's code?
No. Your SARS importer's code registers you as an importer. The ITAC permit authorises the specific controlled goods. For controlled goods you need both, and the permit must be in place before your goods ship.
How long does it take?
We submit within 24 hours of receiving your complete documents. ITAC typically issues import permits within about five working days.
How long is the permit valid?
Permits are specific to your goods and lapse at the end of the calendar year, so they are renewed annually. We remind you before yours expires and handle the renewal.
What if it cannot be approved?
If your goods cannot legally be imported, we tell you straight and you get 100% of your money back.
